Recent polls have shown Harris encroaching on Trump’s lead, calling Florida’s status as a Republican state into question.
Vice President Kamala Harris is narrowing former President Donald Trump’s lead in Florida, according to recent polls.
Florida has historically been considered a swing state, but after Trump’s victories there in the last two elections and the wide margin by which GOP Governor Ron DeSantis won reelection in 2022, it has more recently been considered a safe Republican state.
However, recent polls have shown Harris encroaching on Trump’s lead, calling Florida’s status as a Republican state into question.
According to a USA Today/Suffolk University/WSVN-TV survey conducted between August 7 and August 11, Trump has only a 5-point lead with 47 percent support to Harris’ 42 percent. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
Trump’s lead was even smaller in a poll conducted by the Florida Atlantic University Political Communication, Public Opinion Research Lab (PolCom Lab) and Mainstreet Research USA between August 10 and August 11, which showed Trump’s lead at 3 points in the state with 50 percent support to Harris’ 47 percent.
