Hurricane Helene Wind Damage Could Hit States 600 Miles Away From Florida

Gusts could uproot small trees as far north as southern Indiana. Helene will make landfall in Florida on Thursday.
AccuWeather meteorologists are warning that Hurricane Helene’s massive size and speed could cause wind damage in states as far as 600 miles away from Florida.
Helene became a tropical storm on Tuesday morning and is expected to make landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region on Thursday night at 10 p.m. local time. As of Thursday morning, Helene was classified as a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained wind speeds of 100 mph. Experts believe it will continue strengthening until it makes landfall as a Category 4.
Many Florida counties have issued evacuation orders already, and weather warnings related to the hurricane extend far outside of the Sunshine State.
Weather advisories have been issued heavily across Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina, with some warnings extending into North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and Indiana.
