“We need public testimony under oath of Donald Trump Jr. who has changed his story repeatedly, ” Schumer told reporters Tuesday.
He added that Trump Jr. and members of the Trump campaign need to “turn over any and all documents” requested by either special counsel Robert Mueller, the Senate Intelligence Committee or the Senate Judiciary Committee, which are each investigating Russia’s election interference.
The information offered by a Russian lawyer “would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father, ” reads one of the emails from Rob Goldstone, who acted as an intermediary to set up the meeting.
The Senate’s top Democrat added that the emails were “the end” of any narrative from Trump officials that they did not want to coordinate with Russia.
“The emails are the end of the idea pushed by the administration and the president that there is absolutely no evidence of intent to coordinate or collude, ” he said.
Senators in both parties are clamoring to hear from Trump Jr. in the wake of the reports about his meeting. Members of the Senate Intelligence, Senate Judiciary and House Intelligence committees have each called for the president’s eldest son to testify.
