Black Keys Rocker: Bon Jovi Huddled With Me to Hide From Chris Christie

Chris Christie once gushed that Jon Bon Jovi is his favorite rock ‘n’ roll star of all-time – but it appears that feeling is not entirely mutual, according to a fellow rocker.

Patrick Carney, drummer for the top-selling rock group The Black Keys, says Bon Jovi once cornered him at a party to avoid having to shoot the breeze with Christie, who was also in attendance.
“I’ve met Bon Jovi once, and it was actually at Howard Stern’s birthday party. Chris Christie, he was in the room, and Jon Bon Jovi came over and started talking to me, ” Carney told uncrate.com, a men’s lifestyle website.
“Like, really intensely. And I was like, ‘Why does Jon Bon Jovi want to talk to me?’ And I realized it was just because he didn’t want to talk to Chris Christie. So I had an intimate conversation with Jon Bon Jovi.”
In July 2015, Christie revealed to Lifezette.com that Bon Jovi at the top of the list of his favorite rockers, preferring him even more than Bruce Springsteen.
And Christie — who claims to have attended more than 130 Springsteen shows and has been seen furiously dancing to The Boss’s hits — even picked “Thunder Road” as his favorite rock tune and once performed it in a duet with Jimmy Fallon.
Bon Jovi, whose hits include “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name, ” has supported Democrats over the years and endorsed and campaigned for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential race.
But he did allow Christie to use his songs when the Garden State governor briefly sought the GOP presidential nomination.
Both Bon Jovi and Springsteen are New Jersey natives and big boosters of their home state.
