It has been a long and leak-filled journey but it appears that the time for a reveal is nigh as Apple is set to announce its latest iPhone on September 12, along with a new Watch and Apple TV.
While it was rumored last week, it now appears that the Wall Street Journal is chiming in with its sources, stating that Apple will host an event on September 12 to announce its latest iPhone. Although the firm has started to shift its work force into its latest campus, Apple Park, it is unknown whether the event will take place on location at the Steve Jobs Theater; while it would be ideal to use the 1,000 seat building, it isn’t quite complete yet, which could affect the location or timing of the event.
For the past few months, there have been numerous leaks about the upcoming iPhone. To date w e have seen plenty of device renders, case renders, images of parts, dummy models, and more. While the iPhone 8 looks to be a stunning device with its OLED display, many are still speculating about what will happen to the Touch ID sensor. Since most current dummy models being released don’t have a physical location for the sensor, there is a chance that it could be embedded under the display, in the power button or the firm may rely on 3D facial recognition technology. Since this aspect is unknown at this point, this will probably be the most interesting component when the handset is officially revealed in a couple of weeks.
Apple is expected to announce three versions of its iPhone, along with an Apple Watch with LTE connectivity, and a new Apple TV with 4K support. Luckily, if the September date is accurate, we won’t have to wait long to confirm, as press invitations should be going out in the coming days.
