Jason Aldean took the stage Thursday night in Oklahoma for the first time since a man opened fire while he was on stage during an outdoor Las Vegas concert.

The 40-year-old country singer took a moment to pay tribute to the victims of the massacre, telling the crowd that he thinks every day about the 58 people who were killed. (RELATED: Jason Aldean Opens ‘SNL’ With Message About The Las Vegas Shooting)

“Sometimes this country can be really divided — that’s really unfortunate to see,” Aldean told the crowd. “It’s been really cool to see all the love and support that’s been going on for the last 10 days or so because of what happened in Las Vegas. If we could do that on a daily basis the world would be a better place.”
“These people are gonna try to continue to hold us down… make us live in fear and be scared,” he added. “To those people who are going to try and do that I say: Fuck you, we don’t really care.”
“I want this to not to be something that’s going to be a downer for the rest of the night,” he continued. “I want to play the show for you guys that the people in Las Vegas came to see and didn’t get a chance to.”
