The 36-year-old victim died last Thursday. He sustained serious injuries in an incident at Sylvan Park in Letterkenny on Wednesday.
On Sunday, the Garda said the investigation had been upgraded to a murder probe following a post mortem examination.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses or anyone who visited Sylvan Park between 8am and 6pm on Wednesday to come forward.
