The Nintendo Switch emulator is called Yuzu and is from the team behind the popular 3DS emulator Citra.
I remember when it took years after a system was retired before emulators started popping up for it. Now, only 10 months after it went on the market, the first emulator for the Nintendo Switch is emerging. The Nintendo Switch emulator is called Yuzu and is from the team behind the popular 3DS emulator Citra.
Of course, there’s not a lot to go on yet besides a brand new twitter account for Yuzu, but in the first few tweets, we’re already seeing progress. There’s already an early port of the Wii U homebrew game Space Game by vgmoose running on the Yuzu emulator. We don’t have any video of the game running, but from the comments on the tweet accompanying the picture, it’s likely the game isn’t running well yet. However, the emulator already has early input support, so at least one game is playable on it.

Super Mario Odyssey would be amazing upscaled to 4K, and this could open the door to some really cool Switch homebrew.
No public release date has been set for Yuzu yet, and it’s likely it will be a few months before we see any substantial development. However, it seems like the Citra and Yuzu team works pretty quickly, so playing Switch backups on your PC might be a possibility sooner than you think.
