BLOOMINGTON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona bought digital billboard space in Minneapolis and Phoenix in support of its four former players participating in the Super Bowl.
One billboard just off I-494 near the Mall of America, where both teams are staying, depicts Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, Patriots linebacker Marquis Flowers and Eagles special teams coach Dave Fipp all in their Arizona uniforms with the school’s logo and a message that says, simply, “Congratulations!”
The billboards will be visible through Sunday.
“We’re so proud of our guys on this momentous accomplishment and we thought this would be a good way to spotlight them,” athletics director Dave Heeke said in a weekly e-mail to Arizona fans. “Now, fans in The Valley and those in Minneapolis for the big game can share in that.”
