Fans playing the recently released open world action RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance discover a clever Witcher 3: Wild Hunt easter egg hidden in the game.
As a medieval-style RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance will remind players of similar games like Skyrim and The Witcher. The team at Warhorse Studios seems aware that these comparisons are inevitable, and have decided to include some easter eggs in Kingdom Come: Deliverance that reference some of its influences.
One particular easter egg found in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a reference to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. If players visit the stables at Merhojed, they can find a horse named Roach. As anyone that played through The Witcher 3 can tell you, Roach is the name of Geralt’s horse in the game.
The Witcher 3 easter egg doesn’t stop there. If players speak with the stable owner, he will directly reference the famous sex scene from The Witcher 3 where Geralt and Yennifer have sex on top of a unicorn. Furthermore, the stable owner says Roach was sold to him by an “odd Polish fellow,” a reference to The Witcher franchise’s Polish roots.

While it’s true that Kingdom Come: Deliverance will inevitably find itself compared to greats in the genre like Skyrim and The Witcher 3, the game has managed to carve its own unique niche with genre fans thanks to its “realism.” Whereas games like The Witcher 3 feature showdowns with monsters and the use of magic powers, Kingdom Come: Deliverance prides itself on its realism, to the point that even something as simple as the lockpicking system requires some players to refer to guides.
Some players have praised Kingdom Come‘s realism, whereas others feel as though it can sometimes be a detriment to their enjoyment of the game. These fans have expressed their frustrations to game director Daniel Vavra, who has promised that changes are on the way to make the game a bit more accessible.
Despite releasing to a lukewarm critical reception, Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been a surprise hit with fans, selling about 500,000 copies in its first week on sale alone. As its player base grows, one has to imagine that even more easter eggs hidden in its open world will be discovered.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
