Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell isn’ t thrilled with recent developments from the White House, saying he hopes there will be “less drama.”
In a Tuesday interview with Bloomberg, McConnell said he hopes the White House will quell distractions so that Republicans can focus on other issues.
“Well I read the Washington Post story and I read General McMaster’s response, which tends to refute the story… I think we could do with a little less drama from the White House on a lot of things, ” McConnell declared, “so we can focus on other things like our agenda, which is deregulations, tax reform, repealing and replacing Obamacare.”
McConnell also said during the interview that he has spoken to President Trump about replacing James Comey and has recommended Merrick Garland for the position.
“May surprise people but [Garland] has a deep background in criminal law…and I think it would make it clear that President Trump will continue the tradition of the FBI, of keeping it apolitical.”
