“This is the last call to buy the OnePlus 3T before stock runs out, ” the company said. But while the 3T is reaching the end of its retail life, OnePlus promised that it will continue to support it.
OnePlus said earlier this month that its next phone will be called the 5, and that it will launch this summer. A few days ago, the company’s CEO confirmed that the 5 will have Qualcomm’s latest flagship-class Snapdragon 835 processor, but the new device still hasn’t been officially unveiled.
But while the wait continues for the OnePlus 5 to make its public debut, the firm is already winding down sales of its predecessor. The OnePlus 3T launched in November, and just two months ago, a special edition Midnight Black model also went on sale. Now, the 3T is reaching the end of its retail life.
“This is the last call to buy the OnePlus 3T before stock runs out, ” the company said . “Only a few devices are left in our warehouse, so purchase yours before time runs out at onepl.us/3T .”
While the 3T will soon be permanently out of stock, OnePlus emphasized that the device will continue to be supported. “Rest assured that we’ll continue to bring more software updates and support to the OnePlus 3 and 3T, ” it said.
It remains to be seen if OnePlus actually honors that commitment, though. In a Q&A session on its forums in June 2016, a company representative unequivocally stated that the OnePlus 2 “will get the N update”, which later became known as Android 7.0 Nougat. But despite that promise, OnePlus still hasn’t upgraded the 2 to Nougat – nine months after Google released that update – and its continued silence on the subject has frustrated and angered owners of the device.
OnePlus also promised to address a touchscreen lag issue on the 3 and 3T in November 2016, but didn’t deliver a fix for that problem for over four months .
