There were no casualties and both vessels were able to navigate under their own power.
The cruiser USS Lake Champlain and a South Korean fishing boat collided in the East China Sea Tuesday during routine operations, according to a Navy statement.
The 60-to-70-foot-long fishing vessel collided with the cruiser’s port side amid ship at 11: 50 a.m. local time, and no one was injured, according to the release from 7th Fleet. “Both ships were able to navigate under their own power.”
The Navy and the South Korea Coast Guard are investigating the incident.
