Why Nelly thinks Father’s Day should be moved

The rapper, 42, is looking forward to spending time with his kids on the holiday.
Nelly calls his kids a “blessing, ” but he can’ t say the same for the date Father’s Day falls on.
“We don’ t get the hoo-rah Mother’s Day gets, you know?” he told Page Six during a sit-down interview. “They were advertising Mother’s Day four months ago… Then they slam ours in a couple weeks after Mother’s Day, like we’ re in the shadows.”
Mother’s Day always takes place on the second Sunday in May, while Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June.
The rapper, 42, did have a solution for how the dads out there can get a bit more credit, though.
“I think they should move Father’s Day, I think we should be way away from Mother’s Day, ” he said.
He looks forward to spending this Sunday’s holiday with his children Chanel, 23, and Cornell, 18, and his niece and nephew, 20-year-old Sydney and 26-year-old Shawn Thomas, whose mother passed away in 2005.
“My kids are awesome and just having them there is the blessing for me, ” the “Sounds Good to Me” rapper said, adding, “Just being with your kids, I think that’s a great gift for fathers.”
