► FAD Market and Artist Evan Paul English
Where: Invisible Dog Art Center, 51 Bergen St., Boerum Hill
When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
FAD Market’s roving fashion, art and design pop-up comes to the Invisible Dog, bringing more than 50 designer/makers with handcrafted art, jewelry, clothes and home furnishings. Artist Evan Paul English will unveil his latest painting, Spill, created especially for the event.
Friday, July 28
► Free Concert: Andrew Bird
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, Ninth Street and Prospect Park West, Park Slope
When: Gates open at 6: 30 p.m. and the show starts at 7: 30 p.m.
The whistling, violin-playing singer-songwriter Andrew Bird performs a free show as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn music festival. (A $5 donation is suggested to support the annual arts and music performances in the park.)
► Free Shakespeare: “Measure for Measure”
Where: Fort Greene Park, northwest performance plaza, Fort Greene
When: 7: 30 p.m.
William Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” is a dark comedy examining “the danger of placing power in the wrong hands, ” according to organizers. The free performance is put on by the Hip to Hip Theatre Company.
► Tainted Love ’80s Dance Party
Where: The Bell House, Seventh Street between Second and Third avenues, Gowanus
When: 10 p.m.
Inspired by Soft Cell’s hit, this free dance party dives into the catalog of ’80s hits and overlooked misses from the late ’70s up through the early ’90s.
Saturday, July 29
► First-Time Homebuyer’s Workshop
Where: 1000 Dean St., Suite 420, between Classon and Franklin avenues, Crown Heights
When: 8: 30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Join IMPACCT Brooklyn for a workshop on how to qualify for first-time homebuyer’s assistance from the Department of Housing Preservation and Development. Registration is $75. Call (718) 522–2613 ext. 315 to sign up.
► Free Community Yoga in the Park
Where: Maria Hernandez Park, 301 Suydam St., Bushwick
When: 9 to 10: 15 a.m.
Enjoy a free yoga class in Maria Hernandez Park on Saturday morning. Meet at the corner of Irving and Starr streets and bring your own mat or any other equipment you might need. In case of rain, the class will be held inside Daya Yoga at 360 Jefferson St. All levels welcome.
► South Slope Summer Stroll
Where: Fifth Avenue from 12th to 18th streets, South Slope
When: 5 to 9 p.m. Eating contest starts at 5: 30 p.m., “Macbeth” starts at 6: 30 p.m.
Climb a rock wall, lounge in a pop-up park or put your chops to the test in an empanada eating contest. Once you’ ve had your fill of local nosh, sit back and enjoy a retelling of The Bard’s “Macbeth” by the South Brooklyn Shakespeare group.
Sunday, July 30
► 90-Minute Nature Retreat
Where: Brooklyn Botanic Garden, 1000 Washington Ave., Crown Heights
When: 9 to 10: 30 a.m.
Slow down and de-stress with this 90-minute nature walk at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden led by a nature educator. The event, which costs $21 for non-members, includes “wild crafting, ” organizers said.
► Ghetto Hors D’Oeuvres: Climate
Where: Maria Hernandez Park, Bushwick
When: 3 to 10 p.m.
Join local theater troupe The Bushwick Starr and Oye Group for a free event with food, activities, games, DJ sets, live painting and a photo booth. Activities take place and food is served throughout the afternoon. The live performance, which organizers described as “an ode to climate justice in New York City, ” begins at 8 p.m.
► Artw0rks Second Anniversary Celebration
Where: Hotel RL, 1080 Broadway between Lawton and Dodworth streets, Bed-Stuy
When: 5 to 11 p.m.
Celebrate the second anniversary of Artw0rks with live painting, body painting, musical performances, an open mic and more.
