Man shot to death near Muskegon High identified by police

He died on July Fourth.
MUSKEGON, MI – The victim of a fatal shooting early Tuesday that occurred near Muskegon High School has been identified by police.
Corey Deshawn Thompson, 44, of Muskegon, was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1300 block of Sanford Street, according to a press release from the Muskegon Police Department.
Police had responded to the area at 12: 55 a.m. July 4 to investigate a 911 call reporting shots fired, according to police. Thompson was discovered unresponsive, the press release states.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Muskegon Police Department.

Muskegon police also are investigating a stabbing death that occurred later on July Fourth at Seventh Street and Grand Avenue. Earaysha Hudgins, 24, of Muskegon died after being stabbed multiple times, Muskegon Police said. Officers responded to a report of a large group fighting and learned that the victim had been transported to the hospital by private vehicle, police said.
A person of interest in the stabbing death, Rakelio Latrice Fountain (Bonner) , 30, is being sought by police.
