NPR’s Declaration of Independence tweetstorm angered some Trump supporters

One line in our nation’s founding document was too much for Trump supporters to handle when taken out of context
In an act of patriotism and civic responsibility, National Public Radio tweeted out the full Declaration of Independence — the document that told England’s King George that the 13 colonies would be henceforth known as an independent nation. They started with “When in the course of human events, ” got to the good part everyone remembers with “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal” a few tweets later, then finished with a list of everyone who signed the document centuries ago. One tweet stood out in particular, because Trump supporters were triggered, thinking NPR was talking about them. Here, from one Twitter user, are screengrabs from some since-deleted tweets, chronicling part of the collective conservative July 4 freakout: But the follow-up may have perfectly explained how we got here, as a nation.
