Trump spars with Chelsea Clinton over Ivanka’s G20 controversy

Ivanka Trump had briefly sat in for her dad at a G20 meeting over the weekend.

President Trump on Monday roped Chelsea Clinton into the controversy over Ivanka Trump briefly taking his seat at a G20 meeting over the weekend — prompting the former First Daughter’s retort in yet another Trump-Clinton social media spat.
“When I left Conference Room for short meetings with Japan and other countries, I asked Ivanka to hold seat. Very standard. Angela M agrees!” Trump tweeted just after 7: 30 a.m.
“If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother, as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!” he added about 15 minutes later.

Clinton fired back just before 8: 30 a.m.
“Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me, ” she wrote. “Were you giving our country away? Hoping not.”
Ivanka Trump, an unpaid senior adviser to her dad, raised eyebrows Saturday after a Russian official’s photo showed her rubbing elbows at a table with British Prime Minister Theresa May, Chinese President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Her impromptu placeholding drew uproar from critics who pointed out she hadn’ t been elected to rep the country at the Hamburg, Germany, summit.
Trump accuses Comey of leaking classified information
“Ivanka Trump, unelected, unqualified, daughter-in-chief, is representing the US at the G20 summit next to May, Xi, Merkel, ” London School of Economics fellow Brian Klaas tweeted.
“Sort of the whole point of America was that governmental authority was bestowed by the people not by birth.”
The G20 tweets were just a sampling from President Trump’s Monday morning Twitter medley, which also included former FBI Director James Comey’s alleged leaks, the Senate health care bill and a retweet of Sean Hannity’s various grievances about Hillary Clinton.
He did not address the one story dominating headlines: his son Donald Trump Jr.’s newly disclosed 2016 meeting with a Kremlin-connected attorney who’ d promised dirt on Clinton.
