BARCELONA – The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the van attack in Barcelona that killed at least 12 people and injured many others.

Attacker drives van into Barcelona crowd: 12 dead, at least 80 hurt
The attack is in response to IS calls for its followers to target countries trying to drive the extremist group from Syria and Iraq. The statement provided no further details about the attackers, the AP reported.
At least 80 people were injured when a white van drove up onto a crowded sidewalk in Barcelona’s historic Las Ramblas district.
Spanish Police suspected terrorist activity early on and have been investigating at as such. This report confirms those suspicions.
President Donald Trump has condemned the actions of the terrorists, saying the United States will do “whatever is necessary to help.”
