North Korea has targeted American electric power companies with cyberattacks, according to a report Tuesday.

Hackers linked to Kim Jong Un’s regime would target people with spearphising emails that contain malware when being downloaded, FireEye, a cybersecurity company, said in a report obtained by NBC News .
While there’s no evidence the hackers were successful, FireEye says American electric companies could’ve been targeted because of increased tensions between the U. S. and North Korea.
The company’s findings come after NBC reported in August that U. S. officials fear the North could launch cyberattacks on American infrastructure.
