A Las Vegas man who survived the shooting massacre that killed 58 people at a country music concert died weeks later in a hit-and-run in Nevada.
Roy McClellan, 52, was hitchhiking along a Nevada highway when he was struck by a driver on Nov. 17, KSNV-TV reported.
The driver fled the scene in a Chevrolet Camaro, Nevada Highway Patrol said. Charges against the driver are still pending.
“I’m angry,” his widow Denise McClellan told the station. “I feel that he was under the influence of something or drunk and didn’t want to get caught, so he bailed and left my husband laying there in the street. He doesn’t deserve that.”
She added that the Oct. 1 shooting was “messing” with her husband’s head and he had even gone to therapy.
Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, fatally shooting dozens and wounding hundreds at the 91 Route 91 Harvest Music Festival before killing himself.
“This isn’t what I wanted for him. I don’t understand why he wasn’t taken at the shooting, but a month later he was taken this way,” the widow told KSNV. “I hope my husband found peace and he’s safe now.”
A California couple, Dennis and Lorraine Carver, also survived the shooting and were killed in a car crash near their home in Riverside on Oct. 16, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal .
