ALTON — Police say one person has died in a two-vehicle crash in Maine.
WABI-TV reports the crash happened around 8 a.m. Friday on Route 16 in Alton. Police say the cars collided head-on.
One driver died and the other has been hospitalized. The road was shut down for several hours following the crash.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said the driver killed was 63-year-old Robin Gardner of Lagrange. Tyler Creighton, 25, of Medford was treated for injuries and then charged with aggravated driving to endanger and violating conditions of release. He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail and is being held without bail.
Police are still investigating the crash.
