Bungie addresses and provides an update to the community-discovered infinite nova bomb glitch affecting Destiny 2 players in the Crucible Mayhem mode.
Over the past few weeks, bugs and glitches have been a consistent thorn in the side of Destiny 2 players. Even though Bungie has been diligently working to fix many of the game’s shortcomings through two major updates, bugs have continued to slip through the cracks such as the overpowered Prometheus Lens exotic weapon. After fans discovered a glitch that impacts Voidwalker Nova Bombs when playing Mayhem, Bungie provided fans with an update on what it’s doing to fix it.
After being reported all over the Destiny 2 subreddit, Bungie acknowledges in a new Twitter post that the studio is currently investigating the issue. While Bungie didn’t provide much else in the way of troubleshooting steps or additional information, the post went on to reveal that any potential bug fix would not be ready before The Dawning ends in early 2018.
As teams continue to investigate an issue impacting the cooldown for the Voidwalker Super ability within the Mayhem playlist, we have determined that the issue will not be addressed before the Dawning ends in 2018. We will provide additional information once available.
The news is unfortunate for fans of Mayhem as it’s all but confirmed that the infinite nova bomb glitch is going to be alive and well for the entirety of The Dawning. If there’s a bright side to this development it’s that the Voidwalker glitch can only be utilized by those willing to use the Bumper Jumper control scheme. After overcharging a grenade and then activating the super, the game cancels out the charged grenade and instead launches a Nova Bomb. Ironically enough, Mayhem counts this action as a grenade kill, which is worth fewer points than a super ability kill.
January is already shaping up to be a busy month as Bungie is also working on a few fixes for other player reported bugs as well, one of which affects the recently added Three of Coins item. While the consumable gave players in the original Destiny a boosted chance to find exotics, players are not getting the same sort of boost as expected after using them in Destiny 2. In addition, the studio will also finally fix the Prometheus Lens exotic once and for all as well as investigate the drop rates for Masterwork level weapons.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
