Washington State coach Mike Leach has always been pure sound bite gold. But his advice to a reporter who was getting married in nine days, um, took the cake.
“It’s too late to rescue you. The best wisdom I can possibly give on that subject — nine days, and it’s a little late, you should have come to me sooner — my wisdom would be you have to stay out of the way,” Leach said.
Leach said getting involved in plans with the bride and her family and friends is a no-win situation.
“You need to work late, go in the back room and read a lot of books,” he said.
“In the end, you’ll wish you eloped.”
He concluded, “Nevertheless, you need to find excuses that they’ll buy, to be as far out of harm’s way as you possibly can.”
