“Today I accepted Steve Wynn’s resignation”
Famous casino owner Steve Wynn is the latest to have allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him.
Wynn was appointed as the finance chair of the RNC by President Donald Trump himself. On Saturday, he turned in his resignation to RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, who released a short statement on the matter: “Today I accepted Steve Wynn’s resignation as Republican National Committee finance chair.”
Wynn denies any wrongdoing and emailed a statement to Politico, saying the allegations were “the continued work of my ex-wife Elaine Wynn, with whom I am involved in a terrible and nasty lawsuit in which she is seeking a revised divorce settlement.”
“The idea that I ever assaulted any woman is preposterous. We find ourselves in a world where people can make allegations, regardless of the truth, and a person is left with the choice of weathering insulting publicity or engaging in multiyear lawsuits.”
Wynn has been a large funder of the RNC, having donated more than $2.5 million to the Republican Governors Association since 2012.
The RNC has yet to comment any further beyond accepting Wynn’s resignation.
