A quick glance through the forums definitely highlights the battery drain and heating issues.
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners are complaining about overheating and battery drain issues ever since the February security patch was released, earlier this month.
This comes after customers have already dealt with other issues such as software bugs, display and audio issues. Post the February security patch update, the phones are expected to be heating up after mild usage and battery life is also suffering.
Users have started complaining on Google’s Pixel User forums as well as on Reddit.
Talking about the battery life issue, user noobsquared said on Reddit, “Battery is terrible since the latest update. Phone is getting pretty warm just using reddit anymore. January update broke all calling for me, had to factory reset.”
User Sudarshan Sarang spoke about the issue on the Pixel User Community, saying that the phone was heating to up to 45-50 degrees Celcius and the fact that the screen on time had seen a 30 percent drop since the latest update. This issue for him is not being resolved even after formatting the phone twice.
“My battery should not be at 40 percent from less than an hour of screen on time with no new apps at all,” said braidenis on Reddit.
For some users such as Jw224, said that they haven’t noticed a difference in battery life, but phone does get warm. For others like 2Cainz, the heat isn’t noticeable, but battery life seems to have taken a hit.
