The publisher and developer Epic Games officially announces that Fortnite is to receive an in-game replay editor and live recording features sometime soon.
It’s no major secret that Fortnite Battle Royale has taken the world by storm, especially when one considers the fact that one financial analyst recently suggested that the game’s success could mean trouble for other companies due to its potential to “impact engagement for all AAA games to some degree”. While other publishers and developers may need to rethink business strategies in regards to its products, Epic Games is set to offer fans of its free-to-play title even more of a reason to remain immersed in the multiplayer sandbox survival game’s world by promising that a replay editor and live recording features are on the way.
As seen below in the clip from the official Unreal Engine YouTube channel, Fortnite players are given a look at the online personality known as Ali-A showing off the new features, as they will allow fans to use footage of recorded gameplay sessions to create replay videos. Unfortunately, though, Epic Games didn’t provide a specific date as to when the editor is coming in the game, but simply stated it’s due “soon” for consoles and PC. However, it did reveal that these tools will be available for Unreal developers to use as part of the engine’s 4.20 update this summer.
There’s no doubt that Fortnite‘s incoming replay editor and live recording tools will be a boon for popular Twitch streamers such as Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and casual fans alike, as these functions will let players dive into a previous game and view the action from practically any angle imaginable while being able to access basically any point of the match. What’s more is that the camera is going to be completely detachable, with the features even offering such detailed visual options as exposure, aperture, and specific focus controls.
All things considered, the forthcoming inclusion of a replay editor in Fortnite will certainly give the game one more notch in its belt to help it compete with titles such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, as PUBG added a 3D replay and killcam feature not too long ago. With this being the case, Fortnite fans should set a little bit of storage space aside for the replay footage dedicated to their coveted Victory Royales.
