Both phones had received an update to Android Oreo 8.0 in January and will now receive an update to Android 8.1 as other OEMs still struggle to roll out Oreo for even their flagship phones.
Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas usually announces the updates on his Twitter handle, but according to a report by GSMArena, the stable update has already hit Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 devices across multiple markets including India, Tunisia and Indonesia.

Apart from minor changes like a changed hamburger emoji and a translucent notification centre and taskbar, Android Oreo 8.1 brings a host of under-the-hood API changes and features to both Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 devices.
HMD Global is yet to officially announce the rollout but the update should arrive in other countries soon as well.
