One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at a Plano apartment complex.
Officers were called to The Place at Harvestree apartments in the 5400 block of Independence Parkway, near West Spring Creek Parkway, around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police told KXAS-TV (NBC5) that the shooting was a domestic dispute and that the suspected gunman had been detained. The suspect and victim were not related, police said.
Authorities have not released any additional details, including the names of the victim and suspect.
Collin County jail records show only one person booked into the facility on a murder charge since Wednesday afternoon. Leighton Thomas Thompson, 38, faces one count of murder under the influence of sudden passion.
Thompson has lived at the apartment complex where the shooting took place, public records show. In 2001, he was charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun in Dallas County; that charge was dismissed in 2003 after he completed deferred-adjudication probation.
