Thunder point guard needed 16 boards in the season finale.
Critics will accuse Russell Westbrook of padding his stats, but there’s no denying the facts.
The Oklahoma City star needed 16 rebounds heading into Wednesday’s season finale to repeat a feat only he and Oscar Robertston had previously accomplished: averaging a triple-double for an entire season.
So Westbrook grabbed 20 rebounds, a career high, to go with 19 assists and six points in a Thunder win. He’s the modern day king of the triple-double.
While he won’t win the MVP again this year, it’s an amazing individual accomplishment.
Oklahoma City will open the playoffs against the Utah Jazz.
