Danny Farquhar released from hospital; doctor expects White Sox reliever will pitch again

Danny Farquhar, the Chicago White Sox pitcher who suffered a brain hemorrhage during a game last month, was discharged from the hospital, the team announced Monday afternoon, but he will not pitch for the remainder of this season.
However, Demetrius Lopes, Farquhar’s neurosurgeon, says he expects Farquhar will be able to pitch “some time in the future,” according to the White Sox.
That’s a significant and pleasantly surprising development given that Farquhar, 31, was hospitalized in critical condition after the hemorrhage that resulted from a ruptured aneurysm on April 20.
He remained in Chicago’s RUSH University Medical Center since the incident, which occurred after Farquhar faced four batters in a relief appearance at Guaranteed Rate Field.
His brain injury led to an outpouring of support within the game for a pitcher who also competed for the Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays.
