At its latest Build Developer Conference, Microsoft has announced a new Windows 10 app called Your Phone which basically enables Android or iOS users to mirror their smartphones onto a PC or a laptop.
Microsoft has unveiled a new app called Your Phone for Windows 10 at its Build Developer Conference. The all-new Your Phone app will help users mirror their phone straight onto their Windows 10 powered desktop PC. It highlights Microsoft latest attempt toward its Continue on PC functionality by incorporating the mobile experience into its desktop OS.
The Your Phone works in a similar fashion to as the WhatsApp app for desktop. It basically mirrors the smartphone interface directly onto your PC or laptop. The app, in fact, supports both Android and iOS powered devices. Furthermore, the Your Phone app can mirror more Android features to Windows than iOS. The app is callable of providing access to SMS, photos, and notifications as instantly as they appear on your smartphone. Therefore, you needn’t worry about picking up your smartphone while working on a Windows 10 powered PC.
Microsoft plan to start beta testing the Your Phone app with its latest Windows Insider built that’s set to go live later this week. Incidentally, the Your Phone app went live prematurely on the Microsoft Store last week, however it failed to work properly then. The Redmond based giant is believed to bank heavily on user feedback before making a call to incorporate the app into its stable build of Windows 10. Provided it receives a positive feedback from Insiders, the app will make it to the Redstone 5 update that’s set to release this fall.
Just like the Microsoft Your Phone, Apple has its own app called Continuity which allows iPhone users to make calls and text directly from a Macbook or an iMac. Even, American PC giant Dell tried its hands on a similar app earlier this year. It’s called the Mobile Connect and is now available along with a number of Dell powered ultrabook including the XPS 13.
