HMD Global refreshed its budget line-up of Android smartphones in Moscow, Russia last night with the launch of the new generation Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1. These smartphones come as successors to the Nokia 2 ( first impressions), Nokia 3 ( first impressions) and the Nokia 5 ( review) respectively. While the brand didn’t reveal the Indian availability and pricing for new devices, they were spotted briefly on the official Indian website, revealing the starting price tag.
The official listing, which has since been pulled, revealed that the base Android Go edition Nokia 2.1 will come with a sticker price of Rs 6,999. The Nokia 3.1, on the other hand, is expected to come with a starting price of Rs 9,499 for the 2GB + 16GB storage. As for the Nokia 5.1, it seems to have been priced at Rs 12,499 for the same configuration. Notably, both the Nokia 3.1 and 5.1 get another 3GB + 32GB variant, the prices of which are not known at the moment. The Nokia 3.1 is scheduled to arrive in June 2018, whereas, the remaining two will be made available in July 2018.
At the event, the company announced that all three new smartphones will come Android P ready. Now, the brand has announced that its entire range of Android smartphones will get the Android P update, whenever it is rolled out for the general public. Notably, HMD Global had announced at the MWC held earlier this year, that all smartphones in its line-up from Nokia 3 and up will be Android One branded. Further, HMD CPO, Juho Sarvikas also announced that the Nokia 8 will start receiving the Nokia Pro Camera mode with an OTA update starting June 1st.
As of now, there is no word on when the brand plans to launch these handsets in the Indian sub-continent but we can expect it to be soon. We will bring you more updates as and when they emerge, so stay tuned.
