Japanese Princess Mako arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday on the first leg of her official visit to Brazil.
Some 120 people, mostly Japanese Brazilians, welcomed Princess Mako, the eldest daughter of Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, at the Japanese association in the major Brazilian city. During the reception, Princess Mako said she first visited the Botanical Gardens of Rio de Janeiro and planted a sapling of the pau brasil, the South American country’s national tree.
