The phone might be called the Nokia X5 in China and the Nokia 5.1 Plus in international markets.
According to its post on Chinese social media site Weibo, Nokia will announce a new entry in its X series of smartphones July 11 in Beijing. It is likely that the company will announce the rumored Nokia X5, which might otherwise be called the Nokia 5.1 Plus around the world.
Based on a recent TENAA listing, the Nokia 5.1 Plus reportedly features a wide display notch that might distract from the 5.86-inch 19:9 display with 1,520 x 720 resolution. The listing also provided a TA-1109 model name, though the actual name is still a mystery.
Elsewhere, the Nokia 5.1 Plus reportedly features 13MP and 5MP dual rear cameras, 8MP selfie camera, a USB Type-C port, headphone jack, a 2.0GHz octa-core processor, 3GB, 4GB, or 6GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage, and a 3,000mAh battery. The processor might either be from MediaTek’s P series or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 series.
The phone might also run Android 8.1 Oreo and be part of the Android One program, which would mean two years of major updates and three years of security updates. Finally, the Nokia 5.1 Plus will reportedly cost between 800 yuan (~$121) and 1,000 yuan (~$151).
We still do not know which international markets the Nokia 5.1 Plus will show up in or how much the phone will cost in those markets. Nokia might tell us more during the phone’s launch, which takes place at 8:00 p.m. local time.
