The seven-year-old open-world title is heading to Nintendo’s hybrid console sometime next year. There’s currently no word on whether the latest iteration of the franchise will be ported over too.
Nintendo’s Switch is getting another port of a seven-year-old gaming title, Saints Row: The Third. Deep Silver, which has been in charge of the franchise since 2013, announced the news through its Twitter page but didn’t provide much more information about the game.
Saints Row is a series of open-world titles, somewhat inspired by the more popular Grand Theft Auto, but it has grown to differentiate itself by having absolutely no shame in including extremely violent and graphic content – even more so than Rockstar’s franchise.
The Saints Row franchise has received a couple of new entries – Saints Row IV and Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell – since the third installment released back in 2011, so it is interesting to see Deep Silver opting to release the older title instead. Possibly due to its less than stellar graphics prowess, the Nintendo Switch has received ports of popular games from the last generation of consoles, such as The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, which was also originally released in 2011.
Saints Row: The Third is heading to the hybrid console sometime next year, and it’s currently unknown what differences – if any – it will have from the original release. Nonetheless, fans of the franchise may finally have something to look forward to, as there hasn’t been a new installment since 2015.
