HMD Global has launched a new smartphone Nokia 6.1 Plus in India under the Android One program and some decent looks. The smartphone was already launched in China as Nokia X6 without the Android One campaign.
The new Nokia 6.1 Plus smartphone comes with a dual camera and glass back panel and it is priced at Rs 15,999. The smartphone will be Flipkart exclusive, and there will some offers on this smartphone when it goes on sale on August 30.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a sleek design with a notch on the front and a glass panel on the back which gives it a premium feel. The smartphone is the perfect size for hands like me because of its comparatively small 5.8 inches display and high screen to body ratio.
The smartphone comes with a bar-shaped form factor with metal frame and shiny glass back panel. The smartphone is perfect if you like smartphones with a small form factor to fit in your hands perfectly and still looks decent. The smartphone feels a little slippery, so you need to put a case on to get a better grip on the phone.
The smartphone comes with the volume rocker buttons on the right with power button below them. The SIM card tray is on the right; the 3.5 mm audio port is provided on the top side. The loudspeaker and the USB Type C port for charging and data sync is provided on the bottom side.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a 5.8 inches full HD+ (1080 x2280) IPS LCD panel which comes with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection which protects the smartphone from scratches and accidental drops.
The display is pretty crisp and bright and provides a better color contrast to enjoy favorite video content. Taking the smartphone outside and reading anything of this display could be a problem because the display is not bright enough and the content seems to wash off of the screen.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a dual camera set up at the back which includes a 16MP sensor and a 5MP sensor. The aperture of the primary sensor is f/2.0, and for the secondary sensor, the aperture is f/2.4. The front facing camera is a 16MP sensor for amazing selfies which comes with f/2.0 aperture size as well.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus is an excellent smartphone when it comes to camera performance; the smartphone comes with lots of topics in the camera interface like Portrait mode in a selfie. It comes with a particular Bothie mode which takes pictures from both rear and front camera at the same time and puts them side by side.
Overall the quality of the images are quite mediocre, the color contrast and the details seem to fade away as you transfer the photos to the PC. The pictures show grains when it comes to the low light photography and indoor photography. The Bokeh effect is adjustable which is great, but the images taken are not satisfactory.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor which is an octa-core processor running at a clock speed of 1.8 GHz paired with Adreno 509 GPU. The smartphone will be running smoothly because it comes with stock Android user interface under the Android One campaign.
The smartphone also features 4GB RAM which is enough for the multitasking which it is built for. The smartphone comes with 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 400GB using a microSD card. The smartphone boots up really fast, thanks to the Android One OS from Google.
The Android One operating system is very much optimized, and there is no bloatware at all. The smartphone runs smooth, boots fast and multitasks seamlessly which is fantastic and it is all possible because of the Android One campaign. The smartphone will also get the Android 9 Pie update when it is ready before most smartphones.
The smartphone comes with a 3060 mAh battery which is quite enough for an Android One smartphone with the stock user interface. The smartphone comes with a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, but it lacks any fast charging tech.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus is an excellent smartphone at this price because it comes with pretty looks and decent hardware to compete in the market. The smartphone also comes with a stock Android interface which is a plus for this smartphone. If you are looking for a smartphone in Rs 15,000 price range and Nokia branding excites you then this is the best smartphone for you right now.
