WASHINGTON (AP) — Another state, another campaign rally for President Donald Trump — this time in West Virginia.
Trump’s scheduled appearance Saturday night in Wheeling comes a day after he reversed course and ordered a new FBI investigation of his Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.
A California college professor, Christine Blasey (BLAH’-zee) Ford, says Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers. At least two other women have also accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
The federal appeals court judge denies the allegations.
Trump’s visit to West Virginia is intended to help rally support for GOP candidates, including Senate nominee Patrick Morrisey. Morrisey is challenging the Democratic incumbent, Joe Manchin, who’s facing a tough re-election in a state Trump won by 42 percentage points in 2016.
Manchin supports the new FBI probe of Kavanaugh.
