Epic Games announces that the Fortnite Season 6 start date has been delayed, meaning that fans will have to wait longer to find out the meaning of the mysterious cube.
Although Fortnite players have been enjoying the game’s fifth season of content and its Worlds Collide theme, most fans are now excited and ready to jump into Season 6. They want to know what new cosmetics, maps changes, weapons and consumables Epic Games will add to the game next. Unfortunately, though, players will have to wait a little longer than they expected to find out.
Fortnite Season 6 was initially slated to begin on September 25,2018, which is next Tuesday. However, Epic Games has now confirmed that the Season 6 start date has been delayed slightly and will instead be on September 27, which is next Thursday. The developer announced the delay in a tweet published to the official Fortnite Twitter account earlier today. Though, Epic did not disclose the reason why Season 6 is being pushed back slightly, which has caused some concern within the Fortnite player community.
On the bright side, it will give players a little more time to unlock the rest of the Season 5 cosmetics. Epic is also making it easier for players by hosting a 400% Match XP event over the entire weekend. The XP event will begin on September 24 at 8AM ET (12AM GMT), says Epic, so this will hopefully give players enough time to unlock the final Season 5 rewards and “glide” into Season 6 in style.
It will also give players more opportunity to speculate about what Fortnite Season 6 will have in store for them, as the community has been known to do with past seasons. While Epic doesn’t appear to be planning a major tease event as it did with Season 5, which saw loot llamas appearing in real-life, there are some solid clues.
Of course, the biggest clue about what Fortnite Season 6 holds is the giant cube. After the cube destroyed part of the map and bamboozled players for a good few days or so, it then dissolved into Loot Lake. This turned Loot Lake’s surface into a rubbery playground allowing players to bounce right off of it and even perform tricks when combined with the shopping cart. This is a huge amount of fun and makes for great Twitch clips but some have been reading more into it, trying to piece together what it means for the upcoming season of content. There have been few solid Season 6 theories so far but thankfully, players only have six days to wait to see if their speculation is actually correct.
Fortnite is available in early access on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
