“If he is going to have that seat legitimately, all of these things should be investigated.”
The third woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct has become the first of the accusers to appear on a televised interview.
Julie Swetnick was interviewed by John Heilemann on Showtime’s “The Circus.” The full episode will air on Sunday night, but a clip of her interview was released on Youtube on Tuesday.
In the clip, Swetnick is accompanied by her lawyer Michael Avenatti, who is also representing Stormy Daniels in her defamation case against President Donald Trump.
“Brett Kavanaugh is going for a seat, where he is going to have that seat on the Supreme Court for the rest of his life,“ Swetnick said. ”And if he is going to have that seat legitimately, all of these things should be investigated.”
Swetnick claims Kavanaugh was present while she was raped as a teenager. She also claims that he participated in lewd behavior towards women at the time, including spiking punch so women would be “gang raped” by men.
“From what I experienced firsthand, I don’t think he belongs on the Supreme Court,” Swetnick said. “I just want the facts to come out and I want it to be just and I want the American people to have those facts and judge for themselves.”
Kavanaugh has denied the allegations against him.
“This is ridiculous and from the twilight zone,” he said in a statement. “I don’t know who this is and this never happened.”
Avenatti is demanding that the FBI investigate Swetnick’s claims. Swetnick has also said that Mark Judge was involved in the sexual misconduct.
Judge was also named as a witness to Christine Blasey Ford’s alleged assault by Kavanaugh.
