NEW DELHI: Samsung received a lot of flak in 2016, when its flagship smartphone Galaxy Note 9 started catching fire. Now it seems that the ghost of past is still haunting Samsung as its latest flagship device — Galaxy Note 9 also caught fire.
According to an online report, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 burst into flames inside a woman’s purse. As reported by the New York Post, a woman from New York has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Samsung after her Galaxy Note 9 burst into flames inside her purse. Diane Chung a real estate agent experienced this on September 3, when she was in an elevator.
Chug reported that her Galaxy Note 9 became extremely hot while she was using it as a result she stopped using it and kept it inside her handbag. Then she heard some whistling and screeching sounds as per the report. Soon, after the sounds, thick smoke started coming out from her bag. She then threw her bag on the floor and in an attempt to empty it her fingers were burnt.
As soon as the elevator reached the lobby she kicked her phone out of it but the smartphone was still burning at that time. The report further suggests that on seeing this a man used a cloth and immersed the device in bucket of water. Chug has now filed a lawsuit in the Queens Supreme Court seeking compensation for the damages caused. She is also seeking orders to bar Samsung from selling the Galaxy Note 9.
This is the first time that Samsung has used a 4,000 mAh battery in Galaxy Note series. The company claimed that the handset will offer impressive battery performance and will also be safe to use. The company also claimed that it has conducted battery safety checks for the Galaxy Note 9. But it seems that the checks were not up to the mark.
