With competition comes emotion and it was on full display during the finals of the United States Open Tennis Tournament.
Tears were shed during and after the match as 20-year old tennis player Naomi Osaka became the first Japanese player to win a major tennis title after defeating Serena Williams.
Williams was given a warning for receiving coaching during the match. The veteran’s frustration grew as Osaka was awarded a point after Williams smashed her tennis racket. Williams called chair umpire Carlos Ramos a “thief” and demanded an apology from Ramos. Williams was given another violation for her comments and Ramos awarded a game to Osaka.
Williams and her fans were not having it.
