Nokia 6.1 Plus has now become next in line to receive the latest Android 9.0 Pie software update.
Nokia 6.1 Plus has now become next in line to receive the latest Android 9.0 Pie software update. With this development, the Nokia 6.1 Plus becomes the third smartphone, after the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6.1, to be updated to Google’s latest mobile operating system. The company has also fulfilled its promise of updating both the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 before the end of October. Next in line, the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco are slated to get the Android 9.0 Pie update sometime next month, with no clear dates.
The development has been revealed by HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas on Twitter. To recall, Nokia 6.1 Plus had earlier this month received Android Pie via Nokia Beta Labs. Thanks to Nokia’s partnership with Google for the Android One programme, the phone maker is able to provide faster Android updates. As per user reports on Twitter, the latest software update on Nokia 6.1 Plus has a file size of about 1.3GB and comes with features including new system navigation, settings menu, and notifications. Android 9.0 Pie also brings the Adaptive Battery feature, adaptive and optimised brightness levels, predictive application actions, and the October 2018 Google security patch.
Launched back in August this year, the Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a 5.8-inch full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
In terms of optics, the Nokia 6.1 Plus bears a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup with a 16-megapixel primary sensor, featuring f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels, and a secondary 5-megapixel monochrome sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 1.12-micron pixels. On the front, the handset sports a 16-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels.
