Deadeye is an important mechanic in Red Dead Redemption 2, and like the original RDR1, can be leveled up using various methods. We have taken it upon ourselves to write a proper guide to help you on your exalted journey to become the fastest gun in the land. Do not fret; our guide will be as precise and to-the-point as possible.
Obviously, you can use a specific RDR2 cheat code to get max Deadeye the fastest but it won’t be as much fun, will it be?
The Deadeye feature in Red Dead Redemption is an iconic ability. Just like in many other cool shooter games, you can slow time at your will, resulting in exceptional accuracy and focus with this Deadeye feature.
You can use the Deadeye feature while aiming, by pushing the R3 button on your Playstation controller or RS button on your Xbox controller.
After selecting your targets with R1 or RB, press R2 or RT to fire at all the marked targets. Pressing R3 again will deactivate Dead Eye.
Following are some tips and tricks with Deadeye that you can use to make yourself a better shooter in the Wild West:
Restoring Dead Eye
Deadeye gradually recovers over time but if you are in a hurry, you can recover your Deadeye instantly by using Tonics, Chew Tobacco, or other items that induce focus.
Wish Arthur could use butterfly weed in the game. Additionally, Deadeye can also be refilled by shooting enemies while in a combat. Shoot enough enemies and your Deadeye will return back to max.
You can use Dead Eye not only with your ranged guns but also with any consumables you can throw.
Identify Weak Points
Dead Eye will reveal your enemy’s weak points, highlighted in red. If you hit any of these red points, you will do considerably more damage. One common weak point for every enemy is the head. After all, who knew a shot in the head can kill you?
Increase Dead Eye Capacity
You can increase your Deadeye capacity permanently by leveling up. Gain experience by using different tasks and you will find that your Deadeye is at max capacity, in no time!
Deadeye Cheat
Do note that if you use a cheat, you will lose the ability to unlock any Achievements/Trophies in that session. Save manually before continuing.
Craft Items
Apparently, you can increase Deadeye permanently by crafting special items at the Trapper. Additionally, you can also purchase Trinkets and other unique items from the Trinket if you have the cash for it.
If you have improved your Deadeye to the max from the normal ways, buying from the Trinket will definitely help you max it out.
Immortality (Or Something Close to it)
Apparently, when you’re in Deadeye mode in Red Dead Redemption 2, you will gain something pretty similar to Immortality.
The feature also existed on RDR 1 but RDR 2 definitely makes it better. Be sure to use it when you’re being gunned down by enemy masses.
Also, note that a special type of ammunition called “Split Point” cartridges improve accuracy and reduce Deadeye drain. Activate Deadeye for multiple enemies for the best efficiency.
