Samsung has officially launch the Galaxy A9 today at its first Unpacked event that is held in Malaysia. The Galaxy A9 is the first Galaxy device to ever feature four cameras on the back, with each of them having its on functionality when taking photos.
For starters, the Galaxy A9 features a large 6.3″ FHD+ Super AMOLED panel. In terms off its cameras, you get a 24MP main sensor, a 10MP telephoto sensor, a 8MP ultra wide 120-degree sensor and a 5MP depth camera – that’s a lot of them. The camera software has also been enhanced to support this, with just a tap of a button you can easily switch between the lenses to take the photos you want.
Samsung also claims that the main 24MP to have great low light performance as it combines four pixels into one to make every pixel brighter, the Galaxy A9 also sports the Note 9’s intelligent scene recognition and flaw detection feature, which makes taking photos easier and fun. As for the front camera, you get a 24MP sensor to take high resolution and flawless selfies.
In terms of specs, the Galaxy A9 is powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor and comes with either 6GB RAM/64GB storage or 8GB RAM/128GB storage models, it has a 3800mAh battery that supports Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging over its USB-C port. The Galaxy A9 also supports other features such as Bixby Voice, Bixby Vision and Samsung Pay.
On top of that, Samsung has also announced the Galaxy A7 at the event, where it lacks the telephoto lens of the A9, it has a smaller display at 6-inches as well. Instead of the Snapdragon 636 processor, you are getting an Exynos 7885 SoC supported by either 4GB/64GB or 6GB/128GB storage configurations.
Unlike the A9, the Galaxy A7’s fingerprint scanner is mounted on to the side instead of the rear, it also uses a micro USB port for charging and has a 3300mAh battery onboard.
No local pricing and availability for the phones have been announced, but we will update this space once we have them. Both the Galaxy A7 and A9 comes in colour options of Lemonade Blue, Caviar Black and Bubblegum Pink.
