CNN’s Brooke Baldwin refused to let one of her guests refer to rowdy far-left activists who opposed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as a “mob,” saying that she did not want to use the “m-word.”
The comment came from senior Daily Beast columnist and CNN contributor Matt Lewis, who said that the increasing confrontations initiated by far-left protesters will drive GOP turnout at the polls this fall.
“Republicans, they’re the team that needed the excitement, the passion, the energy,” Lewis said. “They didn’t have it. In midterms, that’s what matters for turnout and now I think they do.”
“I believe it’s the overreaction of the left,” Lewis continued. “When you see people like Ted Cruz getting chased out of restaurants by a mob— “
Baldwin cut off Lewis, “Oh, you’re not going to use the ‘mob’ word here.”
“It’s totally a mob,” Lewis replied. “It is without a doubt. There’s no other word for it.”
Baldwin continued to interrupt him as he tried to explain why the far-left activists were a mob, later saying she wanted to move past the “m-word.”
