Battlefield 1 players attempted to hold a cease fire to commemorate Armistice Day, but as you might have guessed, some bugger decided to piss all over the idea before very long.
The gameplay video was posted over on Reddit . “This is the 100 year anniversary of the end of WW1. On the 11th hour we stopped fighting,” read the post.
Jan David Hassel, technical designer at DICE, shared the clip on his Twitter account and you can take a look at it below.
Of course, it didn’t go smoothly – best laid plans and all that. Someone in a plane shot at the players that had gathered on the beach to participate, and the person recording the gameplay got a knife in the back for their trouble, but it was nice while it lasted.
While some commenters applauded the effort, others weren’t quite so impressed.
“OMG OMG he is killing people in a game. What an ass,” said one.
“Nice gesture… but a bit tacky to be playing it on Armistice day at all,” said another.
On a more positive note, Backstabby McGee did apologise for murdering the OP, so that was nice. Thanks, Eurogamer!
