WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, MI — A 77-year-old Delton woman was killed Thursday when her car slid across the center line and struck an oncoming car.
Frances May Engeseth was driving a Kia south on Patterson Road just before 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, when she lost control of the vehicle south of 131st Avenue, according to a press release from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.
Slippery roads were the likely factor in the cras h, police said. Her vehicle collided with a Cadillac SUV, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Engeseth was pinned in the vehicle and was unresponsive when rescuers arrived at the scene.
Two people in the Cadillac had minor injuries and they did not seek medical attention.
Allegan County sheriff’s deputies said the Cadillac driver could not avoid the collision because of a guardrail on the north side of the road and traffic in the southbound lane. The Cadillac struck the driver’s side of the Kia.
