The Telegraph reported Sunday that the right-leaning National Rally, led by former Macron foe Marine Le Pen, had taken over the lead in opinion polls from Macron’s more centrist La Republique En Marche party.
According to NBC News, Macron was participating in World War I ceremonies in Verdun, about 160 miles away from Paris, when the arrests were made.
