An Ohio family of four was arrested in connection to the horrific massacre of eight members of another family more than two years ago, according to officials.
Authorities announced Tuesday that the Wagner family was arrested for allegedly killing eight members of the Rhoden family execution-style in April 2016 at four different Pike County homes, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer .
The suspects were identified as George “Billy” Wagner, 47, his wife Angela Wagner, 48, and their sons, George Wagner IV, 27, and Edward “Jake” Wagner, 26.
Investigators discovered marijuana growing operations at three of the crime scenes and suspect drugs may have played a role in the brutal killings. An autopsy report revealed all but one of the victims were shot in the head multiple times.
The victims were identified as Christopher Rhoden, 40; his ex-wife Dana Rhoden, 37; their children Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, 20; Christopher Jr. Rhoden, 16; and Hanna Rhoden; 19. Others killed in the slayings were Hanna Gilley, who was Frankie Rhoden’s 20-year-old fiancée; Christopher Rhoden Sr.’s brother, Kenneth Rhoden, 44; and a cousin Gary Rhoden, 38.
Edward “Jake” Wagner was the one-time boyfriend of victim Hanna Rhoden, who he shared custody of a daughter with at the time of the slayings.
The Wagner’s attorney maintained the family’s innocence Tuesday in a statement.
“We look forward to the day when the true culprits will be discovered and brought to justice for this terrible tragedy,” attorney John Clark said. “The Wagners are also very hopeful that in the ensuing months there will be a thorough vetting of all the facts.”
